Student Researchers
Marcus Vasko-Bennett: Marcus began working at the Soil Ecology Laboratory in September 2007. He is a History major at Ohio State and plans to attend graduate school to continue his studies. Marcus is a research assistant whose responsibilities include implementing laboratory experiments, field and greenhouse work, and statistical and data analysis. He attended and spoke at the 5th and 6th Annual Vermicomposting Symposia in Springfield, Illinois in February 2008 and 2009.
Ahmed Askar: Ahmed came to the Soil Ecology Laboratory in February 2007. He recently graduated from Ohio State in December 2008 with a major in Biology. He is currently applying to graduate school and hopes to go to NYU to study international relations and diplomacy. He is a research assistant whose responsibilities include implementing laboratory experiments, field and greenhouse work, and statistical and data analysis. He attended the 6th Annual Vermicomposting Symposium in Springfield, Illinois in February 2009.
Student Assistants
Renata Harrison: Renata has worked for Dr. Edwards since the fall of 2005. She graduated from Ohio State in March 2009 with degrees in French and International Studies. She will be teaching English in French Guiana, Sotuh America on a French Embassy Teaching Assistantship starting in October 2009. Renata serves as Clive's secretary and assistant in all aspects of office work, journal management, editing research proposals and grants, and current writing projects.
Past Student Researchers and Assistants
Many, many students have worked in the Soil Ecology Laboratory, doing research in the laboratory, greenhouse, and field, as well as assisting with administrative and editorial duties. Undergraduate students, as well as graduate students and researchers, play an integral role in our research and publications. Undergraduate students that have worked in the Soil Ecology Laboratory have been authors on manuscripts published in scientific journals such as Applied Soil Ecology, Pedobiologia, and Crop Protection. Students come to the Soil Ecology Laboratory from many different backgrounds and fields of study, including not only Biology and Entomology but Environmental Studies, Political Science, and History. Students have gone on to pursue a wide variety of careers, including further university work and research, positions at private companies, starting their own businesses, or working for government agencies such as the E.P.A.. Recent students include Brandon Little, Andy Hupp (graduate student), Osman Farah, Chelsea Romans, Joy Chang, Ryan Pulliam, Eric Emerson, Scott Greytak, Ted Ghazal, Titus Chang, Clint Nester, T.J.
