Welcome
We are pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the 2010 Practical Summer Workshop in Functional Genomics, following the similar experience of the Workshop in 2005 . The structure of the 2010 Workshop remained as in 2005 - a unique combination of daily lectures by prominent experts in the fields of genomics, RNA expression analysis and proteomics, with hands-on laboratory experience, followed by bioinformatics sessions, aimed towards solving cutting edge problems in the respective areas. As technology moves forward, the topics and techniques of the Workshop have also evolved. In 2010, we focussed on the identification of plant and microbe genetic material from diverse samples using Illumina/Solexa sequencing, RNA expression profiling of plant responses to pathogen challenges by high-throughput RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq) and the identification of protein-protein interactions using protein arrays.
Topics
-
Metagenomics and Plant Genomics
-
Plant-Pathogen Interactions
-
Protein-Protein Interactions using Protein Arrays
As before the workshop was open to motivated undergraduate students with a strong theoretical and experimental background in molecular biology, high school teachers with an interest to excel, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers and junior faculty members. To maximize interactions with instructors, speakers and attendees, participants resided on campus for the entire duration of the workshop.
