Research Projects

I am currently working on a number of projects, of both an applied and a basic nature.  Generally, my interests involve lower trophic level dynamics in lake ecosystems, especially systems that have been disturbed through excessive nutrient loading or invasion by exotic species.

Ongoing activities include:

Lake Erie Trophic Status: recent changes in phytoplankton and zooplankton seasonal average biomass

Modification of the Lake Erie nitrogen and phosphorus budgets through dreissenid excretion

Stability of zooplankton communities in hatchery ponds - importance of fertilization rate and climate

A stochastic dynamic programming model of optimal Daphnia growth in Lake Erie

Links to websites/CV's are included.

Dr. David A. Culver, The Ohio State University - My Major Professor.  Limnology, with emphasis on lower trophic level dynamics.

Dr. William J. Edwards, Niagara University - Physical processes associated with transport in large lakes.
