COURSEWORK IN THE BIOPHYSICS GRADUATE PROGRAM

Given the very diverse backgrounds of students entering the Biophysics Graduate Program, there are only very few required courses. All other courses are chosen in consultation with the program co-directors according to the needs of every individual student.

All students must take the one year Introduction to Biophysics series. This series consists of Neuroscience 702, Introduction to topics in cell Biophysics (3 credit hours) in fall, TBA in winter, and Physics 780.20, Introduction to Biophysics (4 credit hours) in spring.

In addition, all students must enroll into the Biophysics Seminar (1 credit hour) for three quarters - Autumn, Winter, Spring - of each academic year. This seminar provides cohesion to the program and helps students practice their presentation skills.

Information about typical course work for students in the different research divisions of the program can be found in the student handbook.
