Important Research Presentation Dates

1. The Undergraduate Research Colloquium of The College of Biological Sciences will be held in the Drake Union in late April 2006. Abstract deadline: April 17. Please submit abstracts (following the Denman guidelines, see below) to Associate Dean Caroline Breitenberger (breitenberger.1@osu.edu), 105 Biological Sciences Bldg., 484 West 12th Avenue, Columbus OH 43210.

2. Applications are being accepted through April 3 for the Richard J. and Martha D. Denman Undergraduate Research Forum, scheduled for May 17, 2006. Final presentations, which may be in the form of poster presentations, videotape, multimedia presentations, performances, etc., may represent any undergraduate research area, and cash prizes will be given in each of the final categories. Students of any rank are welcome to participate -- works in progress are okay. More information can be found here

Biological Sciences Scholarships, visit The Biological Sciences Website to apply

  1. The Louis G. Bernstein Memorial Scholarship- Income provides need-based scholarships to students of good character specifically interested in cancer research.
  2. The John D. and Marguerite M. Sullivan Scholarship- Income provides scholarships for worthy students in the College of Biological Sciences.
  3. The Theodore Suie, Jr. Scholarship- Income provides scholarships or fellowships to biological sciences majors who have financial need and show scholastic achievement. Preference for this award is given to students who are orphans.
  4. The Edward G. Mayers Scholarship provides scholarships for deserving and needy students studying the Natural Sciences in the College of Biological Sciences.
  5. Walter C. Rothenbuhler Travel Scholarship Aids students engaged in honeybee research, regardless of department affiliation, to attend scientific meetings.
  6. Harry S. Mesloh Scholarship provides scholarships for Franklin County students with a 'B' average or better, studying entomology and specializing in bees and apiary.
  7. Hoogstraal Memorial Acarology Scholarship provides scholarships for acarology students who are in good academic standing and require aid, and who are studying at the university's Acarlogy Summer Program.
  8. James I. Hambleton Apiculture Memorial Award provides scholarship awards to students pursuing honeybee research.
  9. Biological Sciences Alumni Scholarship provides scholarships for undergraduate students majoring in biological sciences who have demonstrated academic excellence and/or financial need.
  10. Alice Nelson Kraus Undergraduate Scholarship in Environmental Biology provides scholarships for undergraduate students in the biological sciences who will undertake faculty-guided research projects that make extensive use of the Kraus Wilderness Preserve in Delaware County. *Must submit application directly to Department of EEOB.
