After turning the outside, he carves the profiles before hollowing the inside. He plans where the voids in the vessel will occur at this stage of the design process. | ||||

In addition to carving, Graeme adds textures using pyrographic techniques such as branding with a Maori tatoo symbol. The South Pacific influence seen on these vessels include outrigger canoes, Maori symbology, and the starfish. | ||
