Biological Sciences Scholarships for Undergraduates

A number of scholarship opportunities are available through the College of Biological Sciences and its constituent departments. Many of these scholarships are open to all students with majors in the Biological Sciences, although some are restricted to students with specific interests. Students with less that a 3.0 GPA generally are not selected for these awards.

The provided scholarship application must be submitted along with any other requested information.

Deadlines to submit applications are October 31 and March 31 of each year.

In addition, there are outside agencies that sponsor scholarships for which our students may be qualified.

Examples:

Goldwater Scholarship
OSU may nominate only four students for this scholarship. Normally candidates for this award should be in their sophomore or junior years, have a 3.8 or better grade point average, be involved in undergraduate research or some similar activity, and be interested in a scientific research career. Students who are interested in being nominated should contact Associate Dean Caroline Breitenberger in the College Office (105 Biological Sciences Building) in early autumn quarter.
Morris K. Udall Scholarship Program
The Morris K. Udall foundation provides scholarships for students who have demonstrated an interest in the environment, Native American health care, or tribal public policy. OSU may nominate only a limited number of students for this award. Students who are interested in being nominated should contact Associate Dean Caroline Breitenberger in the College Office (105 Biological Sciences Building) in early autumn quarter.
NIH Undergraduate Scholarship Program
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Undergraduate Scholarship Program (UGSP) offers competitive scholarships to students from disadvantaged backgrounds who are committed to careers in biomedical, behavioral, and social science health-related research.
Ohio Environmental Science & Engineering Scholarship Program
Applicants in the fourth or fifth year at a four year school will compete for $2,500 awards. Students at public and private colleges in Ohio are eligible.
Student-Alumni Council Scholarships
The Student-Alumni Council is offering three scholarships to highly motivated undergraduate OSU students throughout campus. Two $1,000 scholarships are available for freshmen, and one $1,000 is available for upperclassmen. Application deadline is January 27, 2006.
