- Family, friends and colleagues of Ohio State's "first molecular biologist," Molecular Genetics Professor Thomas Byers, established a scholarship honoring his memory. Dr. Byers was renowned for his concern for students and his tireless efforts in mentoring and nurturing them. Income from this scholarship fund will be awarded to a student pursuing a molecular genetics degree.
