Scholarships for Undergraduates - General
The College of Biological Sciences awards the scholarships listed below to students with majors in Biochemistry, Biology, Entomology, Evolution & Ecology, Microbiology, Molecular Genetics, Plant Cellular and Molecular Biology, or Zoology. These funds were established with gifts from alumni, faculty and friends of the College of Biological Sciences. The provided scholarship application form should be used to apply for all scholarships listed. The application form can be downloaded and printed from this site, or one can be obtained in the College Office, 105 Biological Sciences Building, 484 W. 12th Ave.

Deadlines to submit applications are October 31 and March 31 of each year.
- The Louis G. Bernstein Memorial Scholarship
- Established April 17, 1964, by Helen S. Bernstein in memory of her husband. Income provides need-based scholarships to students of good character specifically interested in cancer research.
- The John D. and Marguerite M. Sullivan Scholarship
- Established February 7, 1986, by Mrs. Sullivan in memory of her husband's career in the sciences. Income provides scholarships for worthy students in the College of Biological Sciences.
- The Theodore Suie, Jr. Scholarship
- Established April 8, 1994, by Dr. Suie and his estate. Income provides scholarships or fellowships to biological sciences majors who have financial need and show scholastic achievement. Preference for this award is given to students who are orphans.
- The Edward G. Mayers Scholarship
- The Edward G. Mayers Fund provides scholarships for deserving and needy students studying the Natural Sciences in the College of Biological Sciences.
- Walter C. Rothenbuhler Travel Scholarship
- Aids students engaged in honeybee research, regardless of department affiliation, to attend scientific meetings.
- Harry S. Mesloh Scholarship
- Provides scholarships for Franklin County students with a 'B' average or better, studying entomology and specializing in bees and apiary.
- Hoogstraal Memorial Acarology Scholarship
- Provides scholarships for acarology students who are in good academic standing and require aid, and who are studying at the university's Acarlogy Summer Program.
- James I. Hambleton Apiculture Memorial Award
- Provides scholarship awards to students pursuing honeybee research.
- Biological Sciences Alumni Scholarship
- Provides scholarships for undergraduate students majoring in biological sciences who have demonstrated academic excellence and/or financial need.
- Alice Nelson Kraus Undergraduate Scholarship in Environmental Biology
- Provides scholarships for undergraduate students in the biological sciences who will undertake faculty-guided research projects that make extensive use of the Kraus Wilderness Preserve in Delaware County. *Must submit application directly to Department of EEOB. Details
- Sharp Memorial Scholarship
- Established in 2004, from the estates of Silas A. and Katheryn D. Sharp. Distribution supports need-based scholarships for undergradutes from Ohio in the College of Biological Sciences. Scholarships are renewable for up to four years provided a 3.0 GPA is maintained.
- Hershey Foundation Scholarship
- A recent gift from the Hershey Foundation provides scholarship support for students in the Biological Sciences, with preference for women.
