  • Herta Camerer Gross Graduate Research Fellowship College of Biological Sciences
    The College of Biological Sciences invites proposals for the 2004 Herta Camerer Gross Research Fellowship for the summer of 2004. Up to six fellowships for up to $5,000 will be awarded. Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate program affiliated with the
    College of Biological Sciences and performing thesis research under the
    guidance of a salaried faculty member in the College. While preference will be
    given to Ph.D. candidates, M.S. students are encouraged to apply. Applications
    will be considered from students who wish to pursue degree-related objectives
    at an institution other than OSU (including those overseas), provided there is
    appropriate justification.

  • CBS Dean's Award for Excellence as Graduate Teaching Assistants
    College faculty, staff and students are invited to nominate graduate students who demonstrate a record of teaching excellence in the classroom and/or exceptional contributions to curricular development.   • Distinguished Scholar Award
    The Office of Research is requesting nominations for the 2005 University Distinguished Scholar Award. This award recognizes outstanding scholarly accomplishments by regular faculty members of The Ohio State University. Each recipient will receive a research grant of $20,000 for pursuit of further scholarly activity and a $3,000 honorarium. Through the

    Distinguished Scholar Award program, the University bestows honor and recognition upon those whose scholarly activities (e.g., research or other creative works) are at the forefront of their field. While nominations should be inclusive, particular consideration should be paid to exceptional achievements during the faculty member's Ohio State experience.

  • Distinguished University Professor
    The Distinguished University Professor title is awarded permanently to no more than three exceptional faculty per year. The title recognizes accomplishments in research, scholarly or creative work, teaching, and service that are both distinguished and distinctive. The Office of Academic Affairs awards honored faculty an annual budget of $10,000 for a period of three years to support their academic work. Honorees are expected to continue a regular program of teaching, research, scholarly or creative work, and service.

  • Faculty Award for Distinguished University Service
    The Faculty Award for Distinguished University Service is awarded to a maximum of three faculty who have made extensive contributions (other than in formal administrative roles) to the development and implementation of university policies and programs that have made documentable impact on the quality of the University. Recipients will have served in leadership roles on university-level committees or in similar capacities while continuing effective teaching and an active program of research, scholarship or creative work. The Office of Academic Affairs presents recipients with a $3,000 cash award and an increase of $1,200 to their base salary.

  • University Distinguished Lecture
    The University Distinguished Lecture Series annually recognizes two senior faculty members for their outstanding academic achievement, particularly, but not exclusively, in research, scholarship, or creative activity. Each recipient presents a scholarly lecture, open to the university community and to the public, followed by a reception. The lecturer receives an award of $5,000 from the Office of academic Affairs to be spent in support of an academic program or project of her or his choice.

NSF Grant Awarded to Biao Ding

Biao Ding has been awarded a 3-year grant in the amount of $480,000 from the National Science Foundation to study the mechanisms of cell-to-cell RNA trafficking.

David Somers' Lab Published In Nature

David Somers’ group has published an article in Nature (Sept. 20) entitled, “ZEITLUPE is a circadian photoreceptor stabilized by GIGANTEA in blue light.” Woe-Yeon Kim and Sumire Fujiwara are co-first authors.

Rebecca Lamb Receives OPBC Award

Rebecca Lamb has received an award of $57,567 over two years from the OPBC for a study entitled, ”Two Arabidopsis WWE-PARP proteins involved in abiotic stress response and development.”
