Asela Wijeratne Research Interests

My broad research interest is in understanding plant development at the molecular level. I am particularly interested in studying the function of genes that are involved in reproductive development and identifying gene regulatory networks that govern the plant reproductive development.  In the Grotewold lab, I am working with a mutant that shows early embryo defects. In addition, we are trying to develop a novel high-throughput system to identify cis-regulatory elements in the regulatory regions of a gene. This will eventually allow us to dissect the gene regulatory networks present in plants.
