Evans/Sondahl Memorial Fund
Aids Students in the Biological Sciences
The fund is being created by the business partners, family, friends and colleagues of David A. Evans (B.S. 1973, M.S. 1975, Ph.D. 1977) and Maro Sondahl (Ph.D. 1978). Dr. Evans and Dr. Sondahl became close friends and colleagues while studying at Ohio State. This fund memorializes their life's work of research in the biological sciences. Dr. Evans and Dr. Sondahl were friends, business partners, and research collaborators. Their joint interests in plant biotechnology had international scope.

The goal is a fund that will provide $20,000 in income per year for distribution to students. Contributions totaling $500,000 would provide this level of income annually. Funding the scholarship program at this level is an ambitious goal, but can be reached with the help of Dr. Evans' and Dr. Sondahl's business partners, colleagues, friends and family.
Funds will be distributed to students studying biological sciences and enrolled at The Ohio State University or the University of Sao Paulo. Evans/Sondahl Scholars will travel to the reciprocal institution for intensive study, and scholarships will offset the costs of travel and housing between Columbus, Ohio and Piracicaba, Brazil. Scholarships will be distributed on the basis of financial need.
