Many tools are provided by OIT and other groups on campus. This list should continue to grow.
Software
- Find Social Security Numbers on Windows computers
- Find Social Security Numbers on Mac and Linux computers
- Adobe Acrobat (at least version 8 Professional for Windows) includes a feature to redact text from PDF files. Unfortuantely, most tools for finding SSNs in data files are unable to find SSNs in PDF files, so you'll need to check PDF files manually.
