Development Priorities

The following priorities are listed in decreasing magnitude of dollars required, not in order of importance:

  • Endowed chairs in the departments. Areas of interest includ e molecular life sciences, biodiversity, microbial molecular physiology, and environmental sciences. Estimated cost: $1.5 million in endowment per chair.
  • Endowed or annual fellowship for graduate students. Estimated cost: $750,000 endowment or $35,000 per year.
  • Endowed or annual fellowship for undergraduate students. Estimated cost: $200,000 endowment or $19,000 per year.
  • Named lectureship administered and chosen by undergraduates in the Helix Honors Society. Cost to be determined.
  • Endowment for departmental or programmatic seminar series. Estimated cost: $500,000 endowment or $25,000 per year.
  • Diversity fellowships and scholarships for graduate and undergraduate students. Cost as above.
  • Specific equipment needs of departments. Cost is dependent on the equipment desired ($5,000-$1M).
