17-year Cicada... The Cook-out

On a sunny Sunday evening in May, John, Donna and Hojun had an unusual experience with an equally unusual question.  Hmmm, what would cicadas taste like?

According to Donna, who was a little bit skeptical in the beginning, cicadas taste nutty.  Here we document the exciting culinary adventure.

Cicadas were all over John's house, and literally there was unlimited supply of "raw" cicadas.
We decided that wings are not edible, so we took the wings off.
And... here are the wingless cicadas soon to be cooked.
John thought that tempura would be the way to go, with fresh vegetables.

Cicadas were dipped in to the tempura batter.
And, the deep frying began.
