Welcome to The Ohio State University Soil Ecology home site. This site was designed to be an internet resource full of information about who we are, what we do, and our research relating to soil ecology.

Soil Ecology, Ecotoxicology, and Vermiculture

Research into functioning of soil systems, effects of agricultural practices on soil biota, persistence and fate of pesticides in soils; breakdown of organic matter in soils, earthworm biology and ecology, integrated control of soil inhabiting pests, sustainable agriculture, agroecology, relationships between human populations, energy, food, and water, vermiculture and vermicomposting

In June 2007, we organized a U.S.-Indo supported Workshop on "Vermiculture in Human Welfare" at Coimbatore, India June 4-8 2007 attended by about 150 participants.

In July 2007, we set up a vermicomposting program to turn all the food and paper wastes from 250 McDonald's restaurants in Hong Kong into vermicomposts.
