One of the activities of the Protein Research Group is to sponsor annual research retreats. These retreats are not only a great way to present and discuss ongoing research but also to socialize and engage in informal interactions that could lead to additional collaborative projects.

The second annual retreat was held the weekend of May 4th and 5th, 2002 at the beautiful Mohican State Resort in north central Ohio.

The program included short research talks by several faculty on Saturday and by graduate students on Sunday. A facilitated discussion session on Saturday afternoon centered around future activities for The PRG and the establishment of an "Institute of Biochemistry" at The Ohio State University.

Time was also reserved for recreational activities that included hiking, canoeing, sightseeing, and relaxing with family and colleagues. A great time was had by all who attended!

The Program can be downloaded HERE as an Acrobat File.

FYI: The first retreat was held during the weekend of May 5-6, 2001 also at the Mohican State Resort. The theme for the first annual retreat was "Building a Protein Community". The program included short research talks by the faculty. The emphasis was the presentation of research approaches available in each lab as well as those that would benefit each faculty member's projects. The intent was to generate ways to help members of the group further their research, perhaps by using new methods or through the development of new projects. A facilitated discussion session on Sunday morning also helped focus the group on developing ways to foster greater collaborative interactions among the members of The PRG.
