Services - Biomolecular Interaction Analysis

The facility has a Biacore T100 that can measure the interaction between proteins and proteins, DNA and proteins, metabolites and proteins, as well as other biomolecules that can be anchored to a gold covered chip (comprehensive list). The measurements are done in real-time with no labels and utilize surface plasmon resonance (SPR). The T100 can measure concentration, binding specificity, and affinity constants.

Due to the nature of the studies performed with the T100 the client uses the instrument in order to allow for instant analysis of the results and therefore decsions about the next step or experiment to be done. In order to use the instrument, all clients are required to attend a training session provided by the Facility or the Biacore Basics course offered by GE Healthcare. The training provided by the staff is done at the Facility, takes one day and can accommodate one to three clients at a time. The fee covers all materials needed including a chip and a Getting Started Kit. The training will include both theoretical information and practical exercises on the instrument. Please contact the Facility to arrange a training session.

The facility has the following software to aid in the analysis of the data generated by the Biacore T100: Biacore T100 Evaluation Software.

The Biacore T100 can be reserved through dnaLIMS, so click on the link below to (1) create an account if you have not done so previously, and (2) then click on coreCal to view when the instrument is available.

Education Seminar/Training

Eric Roush, Ph.D., of GE Healthcare wil give a basic education session on the theory and applications of the Biacore T100 instrument. The session will be from 9:30am to 12:30pm on Wednesday, October 10th in Room 104 of the Aronoff Building (318 W. 12th Ave.). All education materials will be provided as well as refreshments and munchies. You must register before October 3rd in order to attend. Registration is limited to 35 attendees on a first come basis. To register contact the Facility by email or sign the registration sheet in the Facility. After the seminar there will be an open house in the Facilty, 1:00 to 4:00pm, in order to see the Biacore T100 and discuss your projects with the Staff and Dr. Roush. All who are interested are encouraged to attend.
