In accordance with EPA guidelines, all students, faculty
and staff using the Biological Sciences Greenhouse must be trained in
pesticide safety. The EPA instituted the Worker Protection Standard (WPS)
and has outlined a training program for persons who perform hand labor
tasks involved in the production and harvest of plant materials. This
training must be completed before the person accumulates more than 5 separate
days working in treated areas. At the Biological Sciences Greenhouse,
users are required to complete the training program prior to their project
start date. See the link on the left for more information.
To facilitate training, greenhouse users can fulfill this requirement
via a web training program offered through the University of Florida.
At the conclusion of the web training program, you will receive a test
via email. Upon passing the test, users will receive a training verification
certificate valid for 5 years.
Please Note: The test available at the University of Florida site
is for their program only and cannot be accessed by OSU. You
will receive the test and instructions for the test via e-mail after you
have completed the course. The web training program requires
RealAudio. It can be downloaded for free from http://www.real.com/
Greenhouse users who do not wish to utilize the web training program can
schedule a training session with Greenhouse Staff.
Please fill in the form below and submit to begin
the WPS web training course. You will need to allow 30-45 minutes to complete
the course. The course is designed to be completed in one uninterrupted
session so plan accordingly. If you encounter any technical difficulties
during the course or have questions regarding the material covered in
the training, contact greenhouse staff.
