the Director, Dr.
Ross Dalbey
Let’s talk about your career. Whether you
see yourself in the future as a University Professor or an
Industrial Scientist, we have the experience, the resources
and the motivation to help you obtain your goals. The Ohio
State University has a long history of strength in
Chemistry, Biology and Medicine and has alumni placed in outstanding
academic and industrial institutions throughout the nation.
As an example of our strength in biochemistry, the various
departments of biochemistry at The Ohio State University combined
their graduate programs to form the Ohio State Biochemistry
Program or OSBP.
That was over twenty years ago. What this
means to you is choice.
There are a large number of faculty (about 100) to choose from,
with a wide variety of research subject areas. We are selective
as to the faculty that can participate in OSBP. The faculty
must be productive, well funded and have a solid research program
with emphasis in biochemistry. Consequently the faculty publishes
about 200 papers a year,
and has about $60,000,000
in combined research funding. As you can see from
exploring this webpage, we have a wide range of research focus
areas, each with several participating faculty. In addition,
the program participates in the NIH Training Grant, Chemistry
at the Biology Interface (http://www.ccic.ohio-state.edu/CBIP/index.htm).
Applicants who are admitted to OSBP that have outstanding qualifications
and a background in Chemistry will be nominated for this training
grant.
The OSBP offers you a competitive financial
package, a mentoring program designed for beginning graduate
students, a broad choice of faculty advisors, and a Director,
Program Manager and Graduate Studies Committee that places your
career development first. As Director of the OSBP I am dedicated
to helping you achieve your career goals! |
