Type locality: Buckhead Creek, Burke Co.; Macon; Georgia.

Range: Altamaha and Ogeechee River systems.

Remarks: This species is rather rare in collections although it appears to be locally common. It is most similar to fisheriana but is separated by a considerable geographic gap from that northern species.
