Important Facts for Incoming Applicants
- November 28 for International Fellowship Students

- We encourage both domestic and non-domestic
applications. Special consideration and opportunities are available for
domestic minority applicants.
- Online applications is available at
http://www.gradapply.osu.edu. There is an application fee of $50.00
for international and $40.00 for domestic students. Note: Applicants who
cannot use electronic application because of lack of Internet access or
lack of credit card, please contact the Graduate Admissions at
int.grad@osu.edu or
domestic.grad@osu.edu.
- If you are a domestic student with a GPA of
at least 3.0 you may be eligible for the
CIC FreeApp
program that would cover your application fee.
- Remit GRE scores, transcripts, TOEFL to Grad Admissions to:

- Students are admitted in three categories
- University Fellowship. Students must have GPA >
3.6 and GREs > 75 percentile and TOEFL > 600 or >250. Highly qualified
students can get exemptions for one or more of these criteria. Stipend
level currently $23,600/year + tuition and fees. Special fellowship criteria are available for domestic
minority applicants.
- Graduate Teaching or Research Assistants.
Domestic students must have > 3.0 GPA, and >50% average GRE scores.
Non-domestic students >3.3, >75% average GRE scores, TOEFL > 600 or >250. Non-domestic
students with Masters Degrees or significant publication history are
preferred. Highly qualified students can get exemptions.

- Masters Students. Students wishing to only
complete a Masters Degree are NOT eligible for fellowship or GTA stipend
and tuition and fee waivers.
- Total number of Students admitted per year ranges
from 9 to 12
- Insurance Benefits. All students receiving
financial aid receive 75% paid health insurance and 50% for domestic
partners.

- Reasons for your interests in Biophysics
- Reasons for your interest in attending Ohio State
vs. other programs. It may be useful for you to make contact with
specific faculty in areas of interest.
- Your long term goals as a scientist
- Unique aspects of your qualifications, personal
interests, research experience and your inspirations.
- Any information about your college or University
and the faculty writing your recommendations that will help reviewers
understand the national or international ranking of your institution and
the background of your reviewers.
- Include a abbreviated curriculum vitae or resume
that includes your academic credentials, your work experience, your
publications, your average undergraduate and graduate GPA, GRE scores,
TOEFL, etc.
- Three recommendation letters are required and must
be submitted on letterhead stationary with original signature and email
and phone contact information. Authors of recommendation letters will
be contacted directly for verification. It is wise to choose faculty,
advisors or mentors who are very familiar with your academic credentials
and your potential as a future scientist, e.g., former research advisors.
