Penstemon eatonii is a member of Penstemon subg. Habroanthus sect. Elmigra. It has a hummingbird floral syndrome without the reflexed lower lip. This species can be found throughout the southwest and into California.
The photos on the top were taken with a 50 mm macro lens in the field, whereas the other three photos were done with a ring flash attached to my 50 mm macro lens. The bottom right photo shows a dissection with the staminode and two left stamens exposed.
